The war in Ukraine: all you need to know
Recent: According to Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov, as NATO’s expansion draws closer, the war in Ukraine continues, with Kiev’s forces trapped in a heated battle with Russian troops in Donbass as the country enters “a new, long phase of war.” Kremlin forces have been pushed further back north of Kharkiv, near the border between the two countries, while Ukraine has regained control of villages near the border, a senior U.S. defense official told reporters Friday.
War: Russian forces have carried out sporadic attacks on civilian targets in several Ukrainian cities. Ukrainian prosecutors are taking detailed testimony from victims to investigate Russia’s war crimes.
Weapons: Ukraine is using weapons such as javelin antitank missiles and switchblade “Kamikaz” drones supplied by the United States and other allies. Russia has used an array of weapons against Ukraine, some of which have caught the attention of analysts and raised concerns.
