Four people have been killed after being trampled to death by a gas grenade during a university election in Bolivia
Four students were trampled to death after a chemical agent leaked inside the sports hall of an admitted university in Bolivia on Monday, police said. According to reports, 80 people were injured.
Rector Pedro Lopez said students gathered inside the building at the Thomas Frias Autonomous University in the southern city of Potos to elect their representatives to the local university federation.
The meeting immediately fell into disarray after someone threw an object into the crowd. Some reports say it was a tear gas grenade.
Videos and photos posted on social media show people fleeing the building and then leaning towards fellow students lying on the ground.
